Azerbaijani- Latvian Business Forum was held on July 17 in Riga.
The president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the president of Latvian Republic Raimonds Vejonis took place in the opening ceremony of forum.
The leaders spoke at the forum. Then the forum continued its work with debates.
About 200 entrepreneurs representing more than 120 companies from both sides took part in the business forum, organized by the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, Fund for Export and Investment Promotion of Azerbaijan and the Latvian Investment and Development Agency
Latvian-Azerbaijan Business Forum proposes to improve co-operations between countries in different spheres of economy.
The first meeting of Azerbaijan Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association was held in Baku Business Center on 17th of March in 2017
The CEO of APPEA Tagiyev Vagif gave a detailed information about the history, quality and sales potential of Azerbaijan pomegranate. It was mentioned that different sorts of pomegranate, pomegranate juice, and other pomegranate products has gained sympathy. The importance of access to European, Middle East and American markets was emphasized. It is important for manufacturers to obtain the necessary certificates and to establish direct contacts with their business partners.
The President of AZPROMO Rufat Mammadov spoke about importance of presentation of Azerbaijan pomegranate and its products in world markets in his speech. He gave a detailed information about export and exhibition missions organized under the brand of “Made in Azerbaijan”. He also promised to support and closely co-operate with APPEA in obtaining certificates and examining foreign markets.
Other participants also emphasized the importance of association’s activity. The deficiencies in pomegranate production were discussed and planned future activities to increase production.
On April 17, 2017 APPEA leadership and members also participated at the republican meeting of non-oil exporters led by the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev
Representatives of companies dealing with the production and export of various products also participated in the meeting. The leader of State spoke about the works and future duties in improvement of non-oil sector . President Ilham Aliyev noted that, the measures taken towards the development of non-oil sector had already given positive results. The share of non-oil sector in state’s economy has increased 24 percent on the first three months of this year. Non-oil sector provides 64 percent of state economy.
The Head of the country noted that, export had increased 50 percent at the result of taken measures, and in the first three months over 1 billion dollars came to the country. The creating of brand “Made in Azerbaijan” was one the biggest gifts to the development of export. Many practical measures are taken to promote this brand in the world.
